A typical solution of system (1). There is always one and only one cell activeat each time. When an active cell’s voltage reaches the synapticthreshold θ I , it jumps down releasing the other two cells frominhibition. There is then a race among these two cells to see which one crossesthe synaptic threshold first. The winning cell becomes active and the other twocells return to the silent phase.
