From: Data-driven inference for stationary jump-diffusion processes with application to membrane voltage fluctuations in pyramidal neurons

Figure 9

Membrane noise in CLS cells can be modeled with an jump-diffusion SDE. (A) An exemplar recording of membrane voltage fluctuations in a CLS pyramidal neuron (top). A holding current is used to maintain the cell at 20 mV below its spike threshold. Asterisks show the four largest blips found in this trace. Under the assumptions listed in Sect. 2.1, simulations of the fitted SDE (bottom) are qualitatively similar to the original data (here \(\Delta t = 1.2\text{ ms}\)). (B) This similarity is confirmed by the close match between the data and simulation PDFs (yellow curve and black dots, respectively). (C) Despite having no role to play in the inference procedure, the power spectrum of the data (black) also fits with that of the simulations (yellow). The notches in the power spectrum of the data result from the removal of experimental artifacts
