Nonlinear transduction function. In the model, the response of a photoreceptor y is a simplification of the Naka–Rushton function and writes: \(y=\alpha x/(x+x_{0})\). This function saturates at α when \(x \to \infty \). Also, \(x_{0}\) defines half saturation value. The steepness of the graph depends on the value of the parameter \(x_{0}\)
