Statistics for the simulation of Fig. 4(b). (a) Histogram of the time elapsed from the last IB cell burst at the time when the SI cell fires. The mean IB frequency was 17.15 Hz and between any two successive IB bursts there was always a unique SI spike. The SI cell fires exclusively inside an interval of phases of the IB cell. It also fires on every input pulse (after about 1 ms) that falls in this interval (result not shown). This is similar to Fig. 7(a), with the IB cell in place of input-2.
